The beauty industry gets two new players: Marc Jacobs Beauty launched today and Jason Wu’s first beauty line, created in partnership with Lancôme, debuts this September.

Jason Wu to Launch Cosmetics During New York Fashion Week WWD
Wu has teamed up with Lancôme to create a limited edition collection including mascara, nail polish, and eye-shadow. The busy designer has his own label to manage and he was recently named artistic director for Hugo Boss, but the self-proclaimed multitasker loves to keep busy. We’re looking forward to a pretty, feminine and classy collaboration between Wu and Lancôme.

As if the man doesn’t have enough on his plate, Marc Jacobs has announced his new [ad]venture into the world of cosmetics. Still in the very beginning stages of development, Jacobs let the news out surprisingly early, after just one meeting with top beauty supplier Sephora.

In an interview with WWD, the designer emphasized his love for all things beautiful: “Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed—things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, makeup—that’s what fashion’s about for me. I love the opportunity, wherever there is one, to adorn, to decorate, to scent, to dress.”

With no official release date set and specific products and colors just a mere thought in his mind, we may be waiting for quite some time before we are able to get our hands on yet another coveted Marc Jacobs line.

Says Jacobs, “We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”

Be it tomorrow or a year from now, we eagerly await more details and will be the first ones in line to purchase what are sure to be some fabulous beauty products.

Beauty Review: DERMAdoctor PHOTODYNAMIC therapy

DERMAdoctor PHOTODYNAMIC therapy

What it is: Formulated with antiaging properties and SPF 30 UV protection, this lotion actually utilizes UV rays to simulate the proven effects of light therapy.

Described as a “sunlight-activated laser lotion with SPF 30,” the patent-pending, solar-powered technology transforms UV rays into visible red light waves, an energy source for skin that elicits anti-aging effects.

Bonus-It’s formulated without synthetic fragrances and dyes.  We love that it’s not too greasy or oily and smooths on rather easily.  Get ready for the sun with a benefit-packed sunscreen.  If you have dry skin, we recommend following up with a moisturizer.

Added credibility: DERMAdoctor PHOTODYNAMIC therapy is an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner.

Where to get it: Available at Sephora for $85, this lotion is an investment.  Try out a sample before purchasing if you’re still skeptical.
